Rootstown MOPS

General

Am I eligible for MOPS?
MOPS is for all moms with children from infancy through kindergarten!

When and where are the meetings?
The Rootstown MOPS group is a ministry of Grace Church of Rootstown.  Each month (September - May) we meet on the first Tuesday (9:30 - 11:00 AM) and third Sunday (6:00 - 7:30 PM).

What does it cost?
Your first meeting is free--please just come and check us out!  If you choose to join, the MOPS International membership costs $23.95 for a year.  This fee includes all meetings, as well as Life on Planet Mom: A Guide to Changing Your Relationships (the theme book for this year), a weekly "Mom-E-Mail", and MOMSense, a bi-monthly magazine published by MOPS International.  Scholarships are available and kept private.  We do not want money to cause anyone to miss out on the wonderful ministry that MOPS provides!

How do I join?
Just come to a meeting!  We would love to meet you, and we will give you a packet with more information about MOPS International and our local group.  If you know in advance you would like to come, please call 330-325-1426 (church office) or fill out the Contact Us form so that we know to expect you and your children.  But if you don't get a chance to do that, please don't let it keep you from coming!  :-)

What do we do during meetings?
The goal of MOPS is to provide moms with the chance to grow as women, leaders, and mothers in Jesus Christ.  During our meetings we have time for talking and encouraging each other, sharing our prayer requests and praises, and a topic to cover.  That topic may be a video presentation (followed by discussion!), a special speaker, or a more informal presentation or question-and-answer session led by the Coordinator or another member.  We do have a curriculum/theme that we follow each year to help direct the topics that we cover.  And of course, we always have good food and good company.  :-)

Is it a Bible study?
MOPS is a biblically-based organization, but is not a Bible study.

Can I bring my children to the meetings?
Please do!  Our children are cared for in our wonderful MOPPETS program.  This allows them to have play time with other kids, while the moms can focus on the topic at hand--and enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet.  The MOPPETS workers are wonderful and will come get you if you are needed.  During Sunday evening meetings, AWANA is available for children ages 3 through 6th grade!

What if I am nursing?
Nursing moms are welcome to keep their babies with them during the meeting, or simply get them out of the nursery when they need to nurse--whichever is easier for you!
