Service Opportunities
Our moms have a chance to serve in two ways--within the group, and through the group. Serving within the group means taking part of the leadership of our MOPS group. Serving "through the group" comes when you take part in the opportunities we have to serve others, whether in a one-time project or an ongoing relationship. Throughout the year we have a chance to be part of various service organizations. Below you will find more details about this year's service opportunities.
MOPS
We would love to see all of our moms involved in the "ownership" of our group! In fact, two sayings come to mind: "Many hands make light work" and "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." By investing your time and talents in our group, you make the experience better for everyone, and you also connect more deeply wih the group and its members.
While the MOPS group is led by the Steering Team, each member of the Steering Team is really meant to be a "team leader." In other words, we should have a Hospitality Team, a Finance Team, and a Publicity Team--but right now, our Steering Team is doing it all! It would be great to have some more moms be able to share this work.
Here are just a few examples of the ways you could help:
- Signing in moms & kids at meetings--or helping to make a schedule so that we can have moms do this on a rotation.
- E-mailing reminders to the moms who are bringing snacks
- Sending Evites for our get-togethers and activities
- Planning our get-togethers and activities
- Planning fundraisers
- Putting flyers up in banks, libraries, and other public places
- Getting coffee ready for a meeting/meetings
- Planning/running an icebreaker at the start of a meeting
And that is far from exhaustive. Basically, if you have a willing heart and a skill that you want to put to use, we'll help you! :-)
